US Half Dollar Coin
The US half dollar coin, first minted in 1794, contained 90% silver until 1964. However, as the value of silver began to outweigh the coin’s face value, its composition was changed. From 1965 to 1970, the silver content was reduced to 40%, and from 1971 onward, US half dollars contained no silver at all. If you’re purchasing coins for their silver value, always check the minting date and research before buying.
