Zinc and Copper Bar
This bar has a colour very close the appearance of gold by using a mix of zinc and copper. A customer brought it in to have its value assessed, but when tested with a XRF scanner, it was revealed to contain no gold.
One of the most noticeable red flags was its weight as gold is extremely dense, and genuine gold bars feel significantly heavier than they appear. If you come across a bar that feels unexpectedly light for its size, it’s a strong indicator that further testing is needed.
